Norfolk Ladies 7 - 48 Suffolk Ladies
After the Wednesday afternoon pitch inspection was completed, all eyes turned to a packed Thetford RFC (IP24 1LZ), where the Suffolk Women looked to close their tri-counties campaign after a convincing 63-0 win versus Cambridgeshire Ladies.
With some minor squad changes, the Suffolk team started strong, scoring early before giving away a penalty try to draw level. Norfolk possessed some great threats across the team, a young and talented front row, electric footwork in the centres, and some clinical defending from both Norfolk wingers that kept the Suffolk attacking threat well contained in the first half.
A half time score of 7-19 seemed a fair reflection, with Suffolk in control but Norfolk very much in the game, Changes in the second half proving the difference, with the Suffolk depth coming out on top. Ellie O'Keefe (Ipswich Scorpions) was solid at 15, both in attack and defence, stopping Norfolk's threatening 13 several times at key moments, as well as giving both the Suffolk wingers clean ball in opportunities attack, resulting in Emma West (Bury St Edmunds Women) scoring on several occasions.
Captain Chantelle Higgins (Bury St Edmunds Women) was awarded player of the match, befitting of her tremendous performances across both games, and exceptional leadership.
